Account Deletion

Souq Mazad lets you permanently delete your account and the personal information associated with it. This page explains the two ways to request deletion and exactly what happens to your data afterwards.
Option 1 — Delete from inside the app
This is the fastest path and works on both iOS and Android.
- Open the Souq Mazad app and sign in if you aren't already.
- Tap the Profile tab in the bottom navigation bar.
- Open Settings.
- Scroll down and tap Delete Account.
- Read the confirmation screen, then tap Delete to confirm.
Deletion takes effect immediately. You will be signed out of every device and the email/phone number tied to the account becomes free for someone else to register.
Option 2 — Request deletion by email
If you no longer have access to the app — for example, you uninstalled it or you lost access to the email or phone number you signed up with — send an email to the address below from any address you can prove ownership of:

Subject: Account Deletion Request
Please include in the body of the email:
- The email address or phone number you used to sign up.
- Your full name as it appears on the account, if you remember it.
- A short note confirming you want the account and its data deleted.
We reply within 3 business days to confirm the request and may ask one or two follow-up questions to verify the request is from you. Once verified, deletion takes effect within 7 business days.
What we delete
The following information is removed from our systems:
- Your name, email address, and phone number
- Profile photo and any other media you uploaded
- Your password and any saved login sessions on every device
- Linked social-login records (Google, Apple, Facebook)
- Your discount card balance, history, and barcode
- Your favorites, search history, and chat messages
- Notifications you've received, and your push-notification tokens
What we keep, and why
A small amount of information is retained for legal, security, or fraud-prevention reasons, even after your account is deleted. We do not link any of it back to your personal identity once your account is gone.
- Anonymised analytics events — aggregate usage data (screen views, performance metrics) with no personal identifiers, kept indefinitely so we can improve the app.
- Transaction and payment records — financial records required by Egyptian tax law are kept for the period the law requires (typically five years), with all personal identifiers stripped.
- Abuse and fraud signals — if your account was disabled for fraud, spam, or policy violations, we may retain a non-reversible hash of your email and device identifiers to prevent the same abuser from re-registering.
Listings and content posted publicly
Products you posted, photos in those listings, and ratings or comments you left on other users' listings are deleted along with your account. Other users will no longer see your name attached to anything once deletion completes.
Recovery window
Deletion is permanent. There is no recovery period. If you change your mind after deleting, you'll need to create a new account from scratch.
